Edwin J. Sims, DDS

Dr. Edwin Sims received his primary dental education at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco graduating in 1983 with a DDS degree. His undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Oregon where he earned a BS degree in chemistry in 1980.

Dr. Sims started his general dental practice in Anchorage, Alaska to fulfill his obligation of his student loans. He was the dental director of the Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center for the community’s indigent and reduced income families and also maintained a private practice from 1983 to 1988. Dr. Sims and his family returned to Sacramento, his wife Heidi’s hometown, after his loan obligations were met. To leave his new found friends and patients was the hardest thing for him to do, but the opportunity to be with family was very important.

Completing his advanced studies at the Pankey Institute in 2008, Dr. Sims continues his learning and applies Dr. L.D. Pankey’s philosophy of listening to his patients and providing all the education possible for them. Dr. Sims’ professional memberships include, among many others, the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the South Central District Dental Society, The Academy of General Dentistry and the American Equilibration Society.
